I did a cabling job over at the marina at Patriots Point today. I think I’m going to have to take the family for a tour of the USS Yorktown. They have a pretty cool website that tells you all about the area. It looks like the kind of thing Kegan would be fascinated by at his age. Hell, I would enjoy it at my age.

Anyway, I was trying to navigate around the ceiling of a small building on a dock in the water - it almost felt like old times when I used to do wiring with my brother, except this didn’t have old people throwing poo at you. Speaking of poo - if you’re ever in need to take a dump in a public restroom, wait for the computer guy to finish running his cable through it before you drop trou and stink up the joint. You know that stench rises, right?

When I was done, I had the opportunity to break out my camera and take some shots from the boardwalk. Here’s one of them:

Google has finally released an excellent little application for Windows and Outlook users to keep their Google Calendar in sync with their MS Outlook calendar. It is very simple to set up and does exactly what it advertises. I think it’s an excellent way for smart phone users who sync with Outlook to get their Google calendar onto their phone. I personally have stopped using Outlook altogether for my business and migrated to Google Apps. On my Mac though, I do still use Apple’s Mail, Address Book, & iCal programs. In the past I had setup 2 one way published calendars on my Mac and in Google Calendar to keep them snced in a hacked way. It works, but it also causes problems editing problems at the worst times. So after setting up Google Calendar Sync on my wife’s PC and some customer’s computers, I decided to give Spanning Sync a try. Spanning Sync is exactly the same as Google Calendar Sync, except it is for the Mac. I really am hoping that Google releases a Mac version of Google Calendar Sync withing the next 2 weeks, as I am still under the 15 day trial of the Spanning Sync, but if they don’t I have no problem forking over $25 for something that works, and so far it does.

I picked up a copy of SSBB today, amid stories of failing Wii’s due to the dual layer disc that the game comes on. Of course I picked up the family Wii on launch day, so I fall into the group most likely to be affected. Luckily I was not, but it sucks to be one of the ones who are because you have to send in your Wii to Nintendo to get fixed, which takes 7 business days. I wouldn’t care, but my 4 year old son might have a meltdown if we take away Super Mario Galaxy any time soon. When I get home from work this is how he greets me, “Daddy’s home!! Can we play Super Mario Galaxy now?” I thought the video game world began and ended with Zack & Wikki. In fact, both kids were upset when we finished that game and actually cried. Once Mario came into the picture a new chapter of obsession was opened up in my living room though. This afternoon, my son was so fixated on playing the Wii that he pissed himself. I think my wife wants to destroy the Wii by smashing it on my head, especially after I got the new instant classic Super Smas Bros Brawl. I might have to bust out an old GameCube controller for this one though - the controls on the Wii Remote suck and offer no advantage.

I don’t know why this simple video shot with my point and shoot Canon’s video mode is so relatively popular compared to all of my other edited movies shot with my Sony video camera, but oh well, here it is:

I’m re-doing the whole 8×7.org site and re-purposing it as a digital lifestyle blog. Considering it has been years since I updated the old one, I would call this a step in the right direction.

The old site is still currently live at this link so if there was any song you wanted to download, it should still be there.
