Google has finally released an excellent little application for Windows and Outlook users to keep their Google Calendar in sync with their MS Outlook calendar. It is very simple to set up and does exactly what it advertises. I think it’s an excellent way for smart phone users who sync with Outlook to get their Google calendar onto their phone. I personally have stopped using Outlook altogether for my business and migrated to Google Apps. On my Mac though, I do still use Apple’s Mail, Address Book, & iCal programs. In the past I had setup 2 one way published calendars on my Mac and in Google Calendar to keep them snced in a hacked way. It works, but it also causes problems editing problems at the worst times. So after setting up Google Calendar Sync on my wife’s PC and some customer’s computers, I decided to give Spanning Sync a try. Spanning Sync is exactly the same as Google Calendar Sync, except it is for the Mac. I really am hoping that Google releases a Mac version of Google Calendar Sync withing the next 2 weeks, as I am still under the 15 day trial of the Spanning Sync, but if they don’t I have no problem forking over $25 for something that works, and so far it does.
